Bucks is engaged in a two-year strategic initiative to transition sections of 10 gateway courses to the exclusive use of resources that are free to students. Librarians play a key role in guiding the identification, evaluation and promotion of OER and library resources and in the interpretation of licensing.

Mary Ellen Bornak is the Instructional Designer on the Open Education Resource 2-year Strategic Initiative at Bucks County Community College. She works with faculty in all departments to design and develop text-book -free courses for their departments. These courses are designed to be taught, and subsequently revised for face-to-face classes. Before retiring from full-time work at the college in 2016, she created an OER LibGuide. She also teaches an Integration of Knowledge course online for the college.

Jacqueline Burger is an Assistant Professor, Instructional Technologies Librarian at Bucks County Community College. In her role as social and behavioral sciences liaison, she provides the content research expertise to faculty developing OERs as part of the College's recent OER initiative.

Linda McCann is Director, Library Services at Bucks County Community College. She participated on the OER Initiative Team at Bucks during the fall 2016 semester. She serves as liaison to the Business Department and worked collaboratively with two faculty members from that department on selecting open educational resources for the Introduction to Business course. This textbook-free course is being taught this semester by the Business Department faculty. She also contributed content to an OER LibGuide and has worked with other business faculty who are searching for course-related content that can be offered at no cost to students.
