Poster Abstract
We report a case of a 27-year-old woman (2 prior pregnancies: 1 term birth, 1 preterm birth, 2 living children) who presented with right ovarian vein thrombosis (OVT) in the absence of abdominal pain on postpartum day 5 after spontaneous vaginal delivery. Although OVT is classically associated with abdominal pain, this case illustrates that OVT may present without abdominal pain and should be considered as a differential to prevent a delay of diagnosis in the emergency department. This case also highlights the diagnostic challenge in postpartum fever when an alternative infectious source may lead to premature closure and prevent the consideration of an uncommon diagnosis, such as ovarian vein thrombosis.
