Poster Abstract
We report a case of a 71-year-old male with a past medical history of myocardial infarction (MI) who initially presented to the emergency department (ED) with a chief complaint of chest pain and shortness of breath. After consultation with Cardiology in the ED, the presumed diagnosis was pericarditis, and heparin drip was not initiated. The patient subsequently developed a complete heart block indicating an atrioventricular (AV) nodal knock out, likely due to an ischemic event. This case highlights the importance of identifying acute coronary syndrome (ACS) as early as possible in order to intervene and achieve the best possible outcomes for patients.
